Italy and kept in the McGrath Italian collection until being purchased by our

engine also recently serviced
This 1971 Alfa
Romeo 2000 Berlina spent most of its life in Southern Italy before being brought
over to the UK by Bill McGrath Maserati. Now fully UK registered and still
presented in its attractive beech tree ‘Faggio’ colour
scheme.
During a short time in
the McGrath collection, it was treated to new steering joints, a new clutch,
various service items and a distributor cap, all in c.2018 (total cost in excess of £800). It has
also had some corrosion rectified, with new floor pans fitted by Town &
Countryside Classics of Kimpton at a cost of £340.
Following this work, it sailed through an MOT and was put on its
current FMW 229J with the help of the filed certificate of authenticity from
Alfa Romeo Classiche.
Shortly after this, it
changed hands in the UK and was given a few birthday presents this year by
Italian car specialists, Tanc Barratt Ltd. An invoice on file for just over
£2,000 mentions a full engine service, setting up the ignition/carburettors
correctly, replacing many of the fluids, including transmission and diff oils.
The interior had some small issues, so a NOS Jaeger clock was fitted along with
a complete set of new carpets, seatbelts and the door cards were tidied up.
Underneath, all shocks have been replaced with Koni Classics and the wheels
aligned.
Having covered the equivalent of only
about 65,000 miles and carrying a brand new MOT with no advisories, this is a
great opportunity to own what the vendor has described as ‘a fantastic and
practical daily classic and touring car,’ not to mention being very comfortable,
unusually reliable and of course looking very stylish.
