1983 Land Rover SIII Lightweight

Well sorted example with Turner unleaded head, Weber Carb, O/D, Range Rover Classic diffs; family ownership since 2013

Dating from 1983 this ever so chic and cool SIII Lightweight has been in the same family ownership since 2013 and was road registered in December 1994 following service within the Forces (as we believe). Powered by the proven 2.25 petrol 4-cylinder engine this tidy truck has seen the addition of some useful upgrades by its owners who are Land Rover specialists.

A Turner unleaded cylinder head is fitted with upgraded exhaust with stainless steel manifold and Weber carb for improved performance. Underneath, we find parabolic springs and Range Rover diffs giving greater drivability and reduced noise, combined with an overdrive gearbox. It rides on a set of Wolf wheels shod with BFG all-terrain tyres.

Within the history file, we find the V5C, note from the vendor regarding its upgrades, 4 old MOTs and current valid until July 2022 with no advisories recorded at 53,242 miles.

These Lightweights have had something of a renaissance in recent years, following the uplift in values seen across the series truck scene. Their utilitarian, lightweight looks have grown on the market as have their values with Brightwells setting the bar with £15,000 achieved at one of our Bicester sales.

This truck has some useful upgrades to make it easier to live with and use on a regular basis with chunky, utilitarian looks and genuine ability to ‘go-anywhere’ they are cool old things and this looks most appealing at its £8,000 - £10,000 estimate.
