1978 MG Midget 1500

No Reserve

Just one lady owner and under 17,000 miles from new; recently recommissioned following a period in storage; a cracking example of this nippy little roadster 

This lovely Pageant Blue Midget has had just one lady owner from new and has covered fewer than 17,000 miles in its 42 years to date. Bought new from Three Crowns Garage of Walsall in August 1978, the original purchase invoice shows that it cost £2,583 plus another £54 for under body seal treatment.
There are 17 old MOTs on file which chart the gradual accumulation of mileage, the car covering 9,007 miles up to December 1983. Shortly after this the speedo failed when it was showing 9,600 miles so a replacement was fitted which now shows 6,945 miles giving a total of 16,545 miles, as confirmed by subsequent MOTs and by a letter on file.
Used less and less frequently as the years rolled by, the car was off the road completely from 2004 to 2015 when it was briefly MOT’d before going back into storage where it has remained since. In September of this year it was professionally recommissioned for sale including a new fuel pump, a new battery and four hours of labour and diagnostics (invoice on file).
Starting promptly and driving nicely as we moved it around for these photos, it remains in very good and highly original condition throughout, the only real defect we noted being a small rust bubble at the base of the driver’s door. Supplied with a tonneau cover and hood bag, it also retains all its original handbooks in the original wallet.
Being offered here at no reserve, it all adds up to a great little package that is sure to be of interest to any MG collector.
