1983 Volkswagen Golf GTi MkI
SOLD
£11,200
In restored condition
with sensible upgrades to the suspension and engine. Rolling road dyno
recorded 122bhp and torque of 114lb ft in May 2020
In the hands of our current owner since September 2015
this smart little MkI GTi looks the business in black with matching black and
red cloth interior. First reg
istered in January of 1983 when it was certainly
considered a proper hot hatch and was a properly quick car, they are still
highly revered today and feel quick even compared with more modern machinery.
This pokey little number has been restored, partly by a
previous owner before being sold and completed by Worcester Classic Cars. The
restoration looks from the history file to be comprehensive with a ream of bills
on file for parts dating from 2011 and 2012.
The GTi was fitted with attractive Weichers front and rear
strut braces in 2015 which look the part and no doubt add the cornering
abilities of this hot little hatch. There are 3 old MOTs dating back to March
2001 when the car had covered 73,630 miles and was white in colour (Colour
change documented on Experian from White to Black (L041) in 2009) in addition to
the current MOT which is valid until May 2021 with no advisories recorded.
Sitting well, with slightly uprated suspension on its
retro BBS RZ X-spoke alloy wheels there is little not to like, with tidy
bodywork, a smart interior and recent new headlining the car offers much for the
MkI GTi enthusiast particularly with the confirmed power outputs of 122Bhp @
6975rpm and impressive torque of 114lb ft at 4852rpm achieved when Dyno’d by
BHPerformance in May 2020.
Buyers please note, the car was recorded Category-C in
March 2000 – however, dont let it put you off, its an old car and values were
low then and it has since been restored, as evidenced by the 36 photographs of
this from primer to completion on file along with the V5C, buyer’s guide, old
MOTs and invoices mentioned.
