Top spec Range Rover Vogue in desriable 'Java Black'; sought after
'THOR' engine with coil spring conversion; impressive condition throughout;
showing just 96,109 miles; 11 stamp service history
Introduced in 1994 as the successor to the iconic original Range
Rover, the P38 generation brought greater luxury, refinement and sophistication
while retaining the marque’s renowned off-road ability. Produced until 2002, it
has since developed a strong following for its distinctive styling, impressive
specification and important place in Range Rover history.
First registered in 2001, this rather handsome P38 was delivered new
through the well-known London dealership H.R. Owen. As one would expect from
such a prestigious dealership, it was ordered in ‘Vogue’ trim, the top
specification of the standard P38 range at the time and is presented in
desirable ‘Java Black’ over the rarely seen ‘Ash Grey’ leather
upholstery.
As can be seen in the accompanying
photographs, this P38 presents in particularly impressive condition, with smart
examples becoming increasingly difficult to find. The Java Black paintwork
retains good depth and shine with only the minor blemishes one might expect of a
car of this age, while the leather interior presents particularly well, with
only a small nick to the driver’s seat squab noted by the vendor. The original
Land Rover-branded dog guard is also present and correct, a desirable accessory
which rarely survives with the cars.
Currently
displaying a reasonable 96,109 miles, the car is accompanied by an 11-stamp
service history and an MOT valid until February 2027. A selection of invoices
are also present, detailing work including two new tyres, a timing chain and oil
pump kit, radiator fans, battery, engine filters, radiator, crankshaft sensor
and water pump.
Fitted with the sought-after
4.6-litre ‘Thor’ engine and benefiting from a coil spring conversion in place of
the original air suspension, this P38 presents as a well-cared-for,
high-specification example in impressive condition. With the popularity of the
later L322 now firmly established, the P38 looks well placed to follow suit and
become increasingly sought after by enthusiasts.
