Plant & Machinery: Auction Assistant
Madley (HR2), HR2 9NH
Duties include:
The Job
The role of auction assistant is where many of our senior leadership team have started their careers. This role has fantastic potential for the candidate who is willing to go above and beyond in their day to day working life. No experience is needed & full training will be given in all aspects of the job.
- Marking out rows and ensuring all machines are parked correctly
- Sticking lot numbers and ensuring each lot is well presented for sale
- Washing and preparing machines & vehicles for auction
- Moving hand tools and helping load customer’s vehicles with purchased lots
- Assisting the office admin staff where necessary
- Assisting the loader drivers and customers where necessary
- Assisting the auction cataloguers & photographers where necessary
- Assisting with moving trucks & machinery around our auction site
The Person
This role is predominantly an active, outdoor job with some requirements for indoor reporting and customer facing admin. The role requires someone with a positive “can-do” attitude who is happy to help anyone and everyone on site to get the job done. You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers as well as being physically fit to climb on and off machinery.
Knowledge & a keen interest in heavy plant/mining/quarry/farming/trucking equipment is a huge positive as you will be seeing a lot of it!
Interest in professional auction services is desirable.

- Strong English skills
- Computer literacy and confidence using IT/mobile phones will be a positive
- Previous experience is not essential

Vehicles: Yard Manager

Duties include:
The job
- Co-ordinate the smooth running of our busy vehicle auction yard
- Liasing with office staff to build work schedules for workshop and yard team
- Ensure the volume of vehicle preparations required each week is met
- Monitor work flow, solve problems, identify issues and pre-empt/manage
- Co-ordinate a team of around 20 people, getting the best out them
- Produce reports from our in house auction system
- Maintain high levels of quality required by our clients
- Making all our customers feel welcome and valued
The person
The role requires someone with a positive “can-do” attitude who is happy to help anyone and everyone to get the job done. Experience of managing a large team of people is essential, so perhaps you have a workshop, production or logistics background. The ability to manage tasks and work to a schedule/timeline is essential.
